It was with deep honour and heartfelt pride that I joined distinguished colleagues at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Second Quarter National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, held in the culturally rich and hospitable city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The gathering was far more than a routine convergence of legal minds—it was a vibrant celebration of purpose, advocacy, and unity.
As I sat among passionate women leaders and defenders of justice, I was reminded of the indomitable spirit that drives FIDA Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to the rights and dignity of women and children across our nation.
FIDA Nigeria, the Nigerian branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to promoting, protecting, and preserving the rights of women and children.

Since its establishment in 1964, the organization has championed access to justice, gender equality, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women and children through legal aid, policy advocacy, and public enlightenment.
A Gathering of Vision and Impact
The NEC meeting brought together FIDA’s national officers, state chapter leaders, and partners to deliberate on strategic policies, ongoing projects, and innovative solutions to address pressing issues affecting vulnerable groups in Nigeria.
It was a showcase of collaborative leadership and tireless advocacy that continues to set FIDA apart as a force for equity and transformative justice.
In my remarks, I commended the federation for its courage and clarity of purpose, noting that:

“FIDA Nigeria remains one of the most dynamic and visionary legal associations in Africa—its influence extends beyond the courtroom into the very fabric of our communities. This NEC meeting is not only a leadership gathering but a reaffirmation of our collective resolve to uplift humanity through law.”
I also shared my admiration for the sisterhood and solidarity that define FIDA’s work:
“The warmth, professionalism, and passion of FIDA members are a testament to what the Nigerian legal profession can achieve when guided by empathy, excellence, and enduring values.”
As we continue to confront the multifaceted challenges facing women and children, gatherings like the FIDA NEC Meeting provide the energy, direction, and unity we need to keep moving forward.
I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to be part of this historic occasion and to lend my support to such a noble cause.
May FIDA Nigeria continue to flourish in strength, integrity, and influence—lighting the path toward a just and equitable society.
