As the global community observes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism, renowned legal luminary Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, has issued a powerful call for renewed commitment to ending all forms of violence against women and girls.
In a statement released today, Akinboro aligned with global voices advocating for a society where women and girls can “live, learn, work, and thrive without fear.”
He condemned all forms of violence, physical, emotional, economic, and digital, emphasizing that such acts have no place in any community that aspires to justice, dignity, and humanity.
Speaking from years of professional engagement and social insight, he reflected on the resilience of women and girls across diverse communities, noting the transformative role of legal awareness, supportive structures, and unified action.

He stressed the responsibility borne by lawyers, parents, leaders, and citizens to stand against abuse and strengthen systems that protect survivors.
Akinboro underscored the need for sustained advocacy beyond the 16-day window, urging society to uphold respect as a non-negotiable value while working to create safe homes, workplaces, and institutions.
“Violence diminishes us all. Protecting women and girls strengthens us all,” he affirmed, reinforcing his call for enduring commitment toward building a safer and more humane society.
