An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million to a 37-year-old assistant auditor, Rufai Temitope, who was arraigned over an allegation that he stole ₦3.56 million from Royal Prince Supermarket.

Temitope, who resides in Ikotun, Lagos, was arraigned by the police on a charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

The prosecution alleged that the offence occurred between June 3 and July 31, 2026, while the defendant was working in the supermarket’s audit department in the Ifako-Gbagada area of Lagos.

Prosecution Outlines Alleged Transaction

According to the prosecution, Temitope allegedly fabricated invoices for goods valued at ₦3.56 million and transferred the corresponding money to an account belonging to another person without the supermarket’s knowledge or consent.

The prosecutor, ASP Donjour Perezi, told the court that the supermarket’s manager, Boboye Moses, reported the incident to the police at Ifako Police Station on August 1.

The alleged offence was brought under Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

These claims remain allegations presented by the prosecution. The defendant’s plea of not guilty means the case must proceed in accordance with the applicable criminal process, and guilt has not been established by the arraignment.

Case Adjourned for Further Proceedings

The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two sureties, and adjourned the matter until December 2, 2026, for further proceedings.

The case highlights the criminal justice process applicable to allegations of workplace theft and financial misconduct. It also underscores the distinction between an accusation, a plea and a judicial finding following trial.

The prosecution will be required to establish its case in accordance with the law, while the defendant retains the right to defend himself.
