Flight operations belonging to Air Peace have reportedly been grounded across Nigeria following the shutdown of the airline’s terminals by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

According to DAILY POST, the disruption affected operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where union members reportedly staged a protest and prevented scheduled flights from departing.

An Air Peace flight scheduled to leave Lagos at about 6:30 a.m. was reportedly unable to take off because of the industrial action.

The report indicated that the disruption was not limited to Lagos, as Air Peace operations were also affected at airports across the country.

The protest left several passengers stranded, with some travellers complaining that they were unable to meet appointments and other engagements because of the flight cancellations and delays.

One passenger, identified on X as YoufoundAlex, said he had a 9:00 a.m. appointment in Abuja but remained stranded at the Lagos airport because of the protest.

DAILY POST contacted the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, who confirmed that the disruption was connected to union activity.

“Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation,” Achimugu reportedly said.

The specific demands of the protesting workers were not disclosed in the initial report.

Air Peace had also not issued an official statement addressing the shutdown or informing passengers when normal flight operations would resume as of the time the report was filed.

It was equally unclear whether the protest affected other domestic airlines operating from the airports.

Passengers were advised to contact the airline or check official aviation channels for updated information before proceeding to the airport.
