A man arrested in connection with an alleged attack involving the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has claimed during interrogation that he was hired by Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.

According to Sahara Reporters, the suspect made the claims while being interrogated by security operatives in a video that has circulated online.

During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that the firearm allegedly used during the incident was in his possession and stated that he fired two shots.

He further claimed that he was working for Eniade and had accompanied him to the location where the incident occurred. The suspect also alleged that he brought the firearm from Lagos State.

According to Sahara Reporters, the suspect said he was employed to accompany Eniade and insisted that he did not know the other individuals involved in the incident.

When questioned about wearing a police uniform, the suspect claimed to belong to an organisation he identified as “NFS.” However, he did not provide details about the organisation or where it operates within Osun State.

The suspect also alleged that Eniade’s personal assistant, whom he identified only as Taiwo, questioned why Eniade was pursuing a black SUV shortly before the shooting occurred.

The interrogation further revealed the suspect’s claim that he initially believed the occupants of the vehicle posed a threat, prompting him to discharge the firearm twice.

The development comes days after Speaker Adewale Egbedun disclosed that his legal team had submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, over alleged threats attributed to Francis Eniade and Senator Ade Fadahunsi.

Egbedun maintained that the petition was intended to safeguard lives, uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic process, rather than serve as an act of political persecution.

At the time of filing this report, Sahara Reporters did not indicate that Francis Eniade, Senator Ade Fadahunsi, or the Nigeria Police Force had issued an official response to the suspect’s allegations.

The allegations remain claims made by the suspect during interrogation and have not been independently verified or determined by any court of law.
