As part of her continued advocacy for improved welfare for legal practitioners, Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, candidate for the office of NBA National Welfare Secretary, has called on lawyers across the country to participate in “NHIS Unpacked by Audrey,” a weekly interactive session designed to simplify the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Group Health Insurance Scheme.
According to Audrey, many lawyers are yet to fully understand the benefits available to them under the NBA Group Health Insurance Scheme, despite healthcare being a key welfare entitlement of every member of the Bar.
She explained that the initiative, which holds every Monday at 7:00 PM on X (formerly Twitter), is aimed at breaking down the scheme into simple, practical terms by explaining available benefits, clarifying enrolment procedures, addressing members’ concerns, and guiding lawyers on how to maximise the health insurance package for themselves and their families.
Audrey emphasized that the programme is open to all members of the legal profession, including newly called lawyers, Senior Advocates and experienced practitioners, retired colleagues, and lawyers living with disabilities, stressing that no member should be left behind in accessing quality healthcare.

She noted that effective welfare begins with awareness and accessibility, adding that the NBA’s commitment to members’ wellbeing can only achieve its full impact when lawyers understand and utilise the benefits available to them.
Reaffirming her vision for a more responsive welfare system, Audrey encouraged colleagues to join the weekly conversations, engage actively, and take advantage of the opportunities provided through the NBA Group Health Insurance Scheme.
She also appealed to members of the Bar for their support in the forthcoming NBA National Elections, seeking their mandate to serve as NBA National Welfare Secretary.
“Together, we can build a welfare system that is accessible, practical, inclusive, and beneficial to every lawyer,” she stated.
