The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, (the Doyen Bar) has called on employers and employees across Nigeria to strengthen employment relationships by promoting healthy workplace ethics and adherence to the principles guiding employment contracts. The call was made on Sunday, March 15, 2026, during The Court Room a public enlightenment radio programme of the NBA Calabar Branch aired on FAD FM 93.1 in Calabar.
Speaking during the programme as a Guest Speaker, Elton Benedict, Esq, a Legal Practitioner and Member of the Doyen Bar emphasized that mutual respect, ethical conduct, and compliance with employment laws are essential for fostering a productive and harmonious workplace environment.
According to him, healthy workplace relationships between employers and employees are key to promoting sanity in employment engagements and improving organizational productivity. “Where there is mutual respect and adherence to the ethics guiding employment contracts, both employers and employees can achieve greater productivity and stability in the workplace,” Benedict said.
He further urged both parties to be guided by the ethics embedded in employment contracts and to comply with the various laws regulating employment relationships in Nigeria. On his part, the Doyen Bar Chairman, Enome Amatey, Esq, encouraged members of the public to take advantage of the educational opportunities provided through the Bar’s public enlightenment initiatives.

Amatey noted that the Court Room radio programme was specifically designed by the NBA Calabar Branch to educate citizens on legal and societal issues affecting everyday life. He urged listeners to consistently follow the programme to gain valuable insights that can help them better understand their rights, responsibilities, and the legal frameworks guiding societal interactions.
The NBA Calabar Branch continues to use the platform to engage the public on critical legal matters while promoting civic awareness and responsible social conduct.
