The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a security alert ahead of the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest scheduled to take place on Monday, October 20, 2025.
According to the Embassy, the demonstration is expected to occur around Eagle Square and the Central Business District, areas likely to witness significant movement and heightened security presence.
The advisory cautioned of potential roadblocks, traffic disruptions, and possible confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers.
The Embassy has urged U.S. citizens to avoid protest zones, remain vigilant, and monitor local news for updates.

The alert underscores the growing international attention surrounding the movement calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Despite the warning, organizers and supporters of the movement have maintained their stance, emphasizing that their demand for justice and freedom remains unwavering.
Their message continues to resonate across social and civic platforms:
“Freedom for Nnamdi Kanu is freedom for all. The people’s voice cannot be silenced.”
