Egya described the incident as “a brazen attack on the personal liberty and dignity of our colleagues,” lamenting that it underscores the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, where even defenders of justice are not spared from criminality.

He noted that it is disheartening that young lawyers, having just been admitted into the noble profession, are confronted with such traumatic experiences that threaten their safety, career, and confidence in the system.

Egya emphasized that the abduction highlights the grave risks faced daily by lawyers and citizens on Nigerian roads, calling for urgent, decisive, and practical measures by the government and security agencies to protect lives, secure highways, and restore public confidence in the rule of law.

“The abduction of legal practitioners symbols of justice and defenders of rights should not and must not be tolerated in a democratic society,” he stressed.

He demanded the immediate rescue of the abducted lawyers, the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, and the institution of sustainable security frameworks to prevent a recurrence, stating that the safety of citizens, particularly those who serve the cause of justice, is non-negotiable and must remain a constitutional priority.

Egya concluded by expressing solidarity with the families of the abducted lawyers, the NBA, and the entire legal community, assuring that the Citizens Liberties Committee National will continue to lend its voice and strength to every effort aimed at ensuring justice, liberty, and security for all.
