CALL FOR APPLICATIONS NO. 2
The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation [JASAN Foundation] has announced the 2nd edition of its “#Legacy500 Elite Mentees Sponsorship/Scholarship Programme and Essay Competition” for the benefit of final year Law Students of all Law Faculties of Federal and State Universities across Nigeria.
Interested 500 Level / Final Year Law Students are invited to write an essay as well as provide a short video recording on the topic:
“The Legal Exchange: Benefits of Scholarship & Mentorship to the Student & the Legal Profession.”

The essay competition is targeted at a balanced exploration of the concepts, giving Student Applicants the avenue to explore the mutual and far-reaching benefits of scholarship and mentorship, particularly within the legal profession. It is also an opportunity to reflect on their educational future and proffer opinions on how these concepts would benefit them personally as vital investments in the future of law.
As an expansion to the Programme, 30 Applicants stand the chance to win sponsorship/scholarship opportunities to attend the mandatory training at the Nigerian Law School [Bar Part II]. This prestigious scholarship covers the tuition for the one-year programme, providing a unique chance to excel in legal education without the personal financial burden.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Applicant must be a 500 Level/final year Law Student from a recognised Federal or State University.
- Must have a minimum of Second-Class Lower [2.2].
- Must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and potentials.
- Must show verifiable proof of financial need.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 1 Page Formal Letter of Application addressed to the Nomination and Selection Committee, JASAN Foundation, Abuja.
- 1 Page Personal & Eligibility Statement [max. 500 words].
- Valid School/Faculty ID Card.
- Verifiable proof of financial need.
- Two 1-Page Reference Letters (one must be from an academic).
- Written essay (1,500–2,000 words) on the given topic.
- Three-minute video summarising the essay, posted on Instagram, tagging @_jasanfoundation with hashtag #Legacy500.
RULES / GUIDELINES
- Essay must be original, written in English, and between 1,500–2,000 words.
- AI/Chat-GPT generated submissions are not eligible.
- Entries to be submitted in both Word and PDF formats.
- Reference letters to be submitted in one continuous PDF.
- Submissions must not contain the Applicant’s personal details in the essay.
- Only one entry per Applicant is allowed.
- Plagiarism or co-authorship will lead to disqualification.
- Essays judged by an independent Panel of Judges.
JUDGING CRITERIA
- Originality, authenticity, and factual accuracy.
- Creativity, clarity of thought, and grammatical accuracy.
- Depth of analysis and relevance to the legal profession.
- Policy suggestions and pathways.
- Personal integrity and adherence to rules.
