Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Henry Barnabas Ehi (Notary), has issued a strong statement condemning the degrading treatment of Miss Comfort Emmanson during an incident aboard an Ibom Air flight.

In his remarks titled “Justice Is a Three-Way Traffic — It Must Be for All!” Ehi described the act as a blatant violation of Section 34(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees the right to dignity and prohibits inhuman or degrading treatment.

Citing video footage showing Miss Emmanson being forcibly dragged off the aircraft by men, her clothes torn and her body exposed, Ehi stressed that even if she had acted violently, there were lawful and humane ways to address the situation without stripping her of dignity.

He criticised what he called “double standards” in handling incidents involving ordinary citizens versus influential individuals, referencing a previous case where a VIP accused of disrupting a flight faced no public humiliation.

According to Ehi, Ibom Air’s statement revealed no evidence of assault by Miss Emmanson, and airport security could have allowed police to remove her professionally.

“I strongly believe that Miss Emmanson has a valid cause of action under Nigerian law and should pursue every available legal remedy,” he declared. “This is about more than one person — it is about ensuring that justice in Nigeria remains fair, blind, and humane to all.”
