The Nigerian Bar Association – Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) continues to deliver on its commitment to professional development as it successfully hosted its July 2025 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) monthly webinar, themed “Demystifying Nigeria’s 2026 Tax Overhaul: A Blueprint for Effective Client Engagement.”

The virtual session, which held on Thursday, 17th July 2025, attracted an impressive turnout of over 1,500 young lawyers from across the country.

The training provided timely insights into the anticipated changes under Nigeria’s 2026 tax reform and their practical implications for legal advisory, tax compliance, and client representation.

The event featured a distinguished panel of speakers including:

  •  Olamide Obajimi, Partner at Olaniwun Ajayi and current Chairman of the Tax Appeal Tribunal;
  • Kelechi Ibe, Senior Associate at Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie;
  • Athanasius Akor, Senior Associate at G. Elias.

Each speaker delivered expert commentary on various aspects of the tax overhaul, ranging from policy rationale and legislative trends to strategic approaches for effective client engagement in a transitioning tax regime.

The session was hosted by Halleluya Edem, Chairperson of the NBA-YLF Continuing Legal Education Committee, who emphasized the Forum’s dedication to equipping young lawyers with practical knowledge in areas of high impact and national relevance.

Participants who attended the full session were also eligible to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, aligning with NBA’s broader mission to promote capacity building and professional excellence at the Bar.

The NBA-YLF CLE monthly webinar series has become a key platform for delivering relevant, cutting-edge knowledge to young lawyers, and the July edition further reaffirmed the Forum’s role in shaping a more informed and competitive legal workforce.
