FCT High Court Dismisses Suit Filed by Tobenna Erojikwe Over 2024 NBA Presidential Election, Awards N200,000 in Costs
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lugbe Judicial Division, has dismissed the suit filed by Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe challenging the outcome of the 2024 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Presidential election, which saw Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, emerge as President.
Mr. Erojikwe, a former contender in the election, had sued the Incorporated Trustees of the NBA and two others, contesting the validity of the election results. However, in a judgment delivered today, the court ruled against him, dismissing the preliminary objection (P.O.) filed by the 1st Defendant but upholding the objections raised by the 2nd and 3rd Defendants.

NBA Election Dispute Resolved: Court Upholds Afam Osigwe’s Victory, Dismisses Tobenna Erojikwe’s Case
On the substantive suit, the court ruled that all the issues raised by Mr. Erojikwe were resolved against him, leading to the dismissal of the case in its entirety. Consequently, all the reliefs he sought in the Originating Summons were refused.
Furthermore, the court awarded costs of N200,000 in favor of the 1st and 2nd Defendants.
With this ruling, the legal dispute surrounding the 2024 NBA Presidential election appears to have been settled, affirming the legitimacy of Mazi Afam Osigwe’s victory. The case, which was marked by allegations of irregularities and concerns over the election process, now concludes with the court’s decision.
