Anambra: Graves, Shrine, and Ammunition Uncovered

A statement from the Anambra State New Media, shared on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the top floor of the two-story hotel was partitioned into over 30 graves. Additionally, a shrine and ammunition were discovered on the premises.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the leader of the security team explained that live cartridges, ammunition, and a blood-filled pot were recovered during the operation. These items have since been handed over to the police at the SARS Office in Awkuzu as evidence.

The officer stated:

“They kept it as evidence and also as an exhibit. You can see feathers and graves. The shrine was built on top of the hotel where they performed spiritual activities.”

Anambra: Community Relief and Government Action

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, confirmed the incident. He stated that the demolition followed investigations linking the hotel to various criminal activities, including kidnapping.

Mr. Aburime remarked:

“The hotel was destroyed because it served as a kidnappers’ den. Discoveries included graves, army uniforms, and live cartridges. The community expressed relief, having long complained about nightly gunshots emanating from the hotel.”

He further emphasized the role of the newly enacted Homeland Security Law 2025 in aiding the government’s efforts to flush out criminals from Anambra State.

Zero Tolerance for Criminality

Governor Soludo’s administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for crime, with plans to demolish any buildings linked to criminal activities such as kidnapping and robbery.

Mr. Aburime reiterated:

“The house will be brought down, and the owner will be prosecuted if found complicit.”
