The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized five key terrorist commanders and over 35 fighters in a precise airstrike as part of Operation “Hadin Kai.” The strike occurred on August 16 in Arina, a location in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, and marks a significant blow to terrorist elements operating in the region.

According to a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by AVN Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the high-profile targets eliminated in the airstrike include Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (also known as Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki. These commanders were identified as instrumental figures in the terrorist networks within the area.

Gabkwet detailed that the operation was carried out after thorough intelligence gathering, which detected the movement of terrorists into the targeted area from nearby locations. Following this, Confirmatory Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted on August 12 and 15 identified the presence of numerous terrorists and active structures concealed under trees.

“In response, coordinated airstrikes were launched, successfully engaging the targets and leading to the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their structures,” Gabkwet explained. The airstrikes also obliterated various equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary.

The operation significantly degraded the operational capacity of the remaining terrorist factions in the region. Gabkwet emphasized that the NAF remains resolute in its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in their mission to restore peace and security to the Northeast.

This operation is seen as a crucial step in weakening the remnants of terrorist forces and ensuring the safety of innocent civilians and Nigerian troops in the area.
