Nigerian human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has issued a 12-hour ultimatum to Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, in response to claims that Falana requested ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon.
Bobrisky recently shared an audio recording online, alleging that Falana and his son, rapper Falz, approached her during her six-month sentence for naira abuse, claiming they sought ₦10 million in exchange for facilitating a pardon.
However, Falana’s legal representatives, Olorunfemi Akinyemi, Esq., and Taiwo E. Olawanle, Esq., have refuted the allegations, describing them as false and damaging to Falana’s reputation. In a letter obtained by SaharaReporters, the legal team emphasized that Bobrisky had never communicated with their client regarding a pardon request.
The lawyers demanded a full retraction of the claims and a public apology across all platforms where the statements were shared. They warned that failure to comply within 12 hours would result in legal action, including claims for damages.
The letter read in part: “We are Counsel to Mr. Femi Falana SAN (hereinafter referred to as ‘our client’) on whose behalf we write this letter regarding your slanderous statement against him… You have made these defamatory statements in a reckless manner, knowing that you did not speak with our client or instruct him to write a letter of pardon.”
The letter concluded with a stern reminder that without the demanded retraction and apology, the legal team would proceed with necessary legal remedies.
