Today, as our beloved nation marks another year of freedom, we are reminded that independence is more than the lowering of a colonial flag; it is the daily duty of every citizen to build a society where justice, fairness, and the rule of law truly reign.
Our journey as a nation has not been without trials. Yet, every challenge is an invitation to rise above complacency and raise the Bar, not only in the legal profession but in the quality of our governance, our civic responsibility, and our commitment to the next generation.
True independence thrives when laws are upheld without fear or favour, when every Nigerian can dream without the weight of corruption, insecurity, or inequality.
As members of the Bar, we are the sentinels of justice. We must recommit to integrity, courage, and service, ensuring that the courts remain a refuge for the weak and a restraint for the mighty.

Let us daily raise the Bar in character, in advocacy, and in the pursuit of a nation where liberty is lived, not merely celebrated.
May this Independence Day inspire us all to choose principle over convenience, unity over division, and justice over silence.
Together, we can write a new chapter where Nigeria’s freedom is not just history, but a living promise fulfilled.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
