It was an outpouring of warmth, solidarity, and high-level camaraderie on September 3rd as learned silks, leaders of the Bar, professional colleagues, and dear friends converged both virtually and in person to celebrate Nwabueze Obasi-Obi, Esq., Partner at Y. C. Maikyau & Co, on his birthday.

The celebration reverberated across multiple platforms throughout the day. Leading figures of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), peers, and family members flooded WhatsApp statuses, social media feeds, and phone lines with heartfelt prayers and goodwill messages. In a special official birthday flier released on behalf of the branch, Yakubu Philemon, SAN, Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), lauded him as an esteemed colleague and member, praying for abundant blessings, good health, and greater professional success.

Fondly dubbed the “Minister / OC Enjoyment of the NBA,” friends and associates marveled at his unmatched ability to blend lively cheer with an uncompromising, relentless work ethic. Demonstrating his exceptional commitment to practice and active litigation, he arrived at his office celebration straight from an appearance before the Court of Appeal earlier that day.
The festivities peaked at his office, which was transformed into an energetic reception hub as bar leaders and colleagues took time out of their tight court schedules to honor him.

Notably, Abdul Mohammed, SAN, extolled the celebrant’s character, describing him as a thoroughly good and worthy man whose exceptional thoughtfulness was on full display when the celebrant went out of his way to ensure the silk’s wife’s stay in Port Harcourt was completely comfortable during the annual conference—a gesture that earned him widespread admiration and hearty cheers from everyone in the room. One of the his colleagues expressed how delighted to work under the celebrant’s tutelage and admired the celebrant’s dedication to Probono matters as though he was paid to do the matters.
