Police Arrest Suspect Who Killed Delta Divisional Police Officer
Initially, Kosini was arrested and detained. However, human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe, in a Facebook post on January 6, 2025, alleged that the suspect was released on December 24, 2024, without charges.
Joe also accused the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Orerokpe and the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) of attempting to cover up the case.
Joe claimed the IPO refused to provide a medical referral form for the victim and relied solely on a confessional statement from the suspect. He criticized the lack of thorough investigation and highlighted the risk of the suspect’s statement being discredited in court.

“The IPO begged the mother for an out-of-court settlement instead of ensuring justice for the child,” Joe alleged. “This negligence undermines the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2023.”

The activist called on the Delta State Police to re-arrest the suspect and transfer the case to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for proper investigation and prosecution.
In a recent development, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody.
“The suspect is in custody pls,” Edafe said in response to inquiries on January 8, 2025.
The case has sparked outrage and renewed calls for police accountability and justice for victims of sexual abuse, especially minors.
