Seventeen months after an earlier drug conviction, an 83-year-old woman is back in NDLEA custody after operatives allegedly found methamphetamine and “Colorado” concealed around her waist at her Abia residence.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has re-arrested 83-year-old Uloma Sunday in Abia State over fresh allegations involving illicit drugs.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said operatives arrested Sunday on October 7 at her residence in Ite-Uzo, Umuaguma, Obingwa Local Government Area.
The agency alleges that methamphetamine and “Colorado,” a potent cannabis strain, were concealed around her waist underneath a wrapper.
According to NDLEA, intelligence suggested that the residence operated as a drug joint.
The agency said Sunday had previously been arrested on May 17, 2025 alongside her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, with quantities of methamphetamine, skunk, cannabis leaves and tramadol.
Both women reportedly pleaded guilty in the earlier case and were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment or a ₦200,000 fine each. NDLEA said the fines were paid before their release.
The latest arrest constitutes a fresh allegation and must be independently proved if charges are filed. TheCable
