Victim Rescued in Distress Call Response

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM, police operatives responded to a distress call from the hotel. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Promise Eze tied to a stool with her mouth covered in plaster. The victim was unconscious but was immediately rescued and taken to Wuse District Hospital for medical attention.

Suspect’s Online Deception

According to a statement by Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, the victim had met the suspect online. He had introduced himself under the alias Michael Prince, claiming to be an oil company employee based in Delta State. However, what was meant to be a casual meeting turned into a harrowing ordeal.

Attack and Escape

The suspect allegedly brandished a dagger to threaten and subdue the victim before restraining her inside the bathroom by tying her hands and legs and sealing her mouth shut. He then stole her two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Before escaping, he reportedly contacted suspected accomplices, stating he was “on his way to regroup before returning to the hotel to finish the job.”

FCT Police Intensify Search Efforts

“The CP reassures the public that the FCT Police Command remains unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” the statement read.

Authorities have intensified efforts to track down the suspect and are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to his arrest. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to report to the nearest police station.
