Andrew Warren Lowe, sentenced at Leeds Crown Court.

A British court has sentenced Andrew Warren Lowe to 13 years in prison after finding him guilty of offences involving rape and sustained domestic abuse.

Lowe, 36, of Belgrave Road, Keighley, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday, October 14. The court also imposed a restraining order.

In an official statement published the same day, North Yorkshire Police said the survivor endured repeated sexual assaults, physical violence, controlling behaviour and emotional abuse between 2010 and 2017.

The offences were reported approximately three years after they occurred. Police described the investigation as complex and praised the survivor for continuing to support it through to trial.

The court also heard that Lowe physically assaulted a child, exposing the child to violence in an environment that should have been safe.

Detective Sergeant Natalie Hawksworth acknowledged the lasting harm caused by the abuse and the difficulty of reporting offences years later.

Police said Lowe denied the allegations during the investigation and trial. His conviction and sentence conclude a prosecution involving abuse that continued over several years.
