An unusual property dispute has landed before the FCT High Court, where a company has sued defendants identified simply as “unknown persons,” alleging that they entered, fenced, and began developing land it says was allocated to it more than 25 years ago.
K.C. Bencharis Nigeria Limited has filed a suit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory seeking possession of disputed property in Kuje and ₦100 million in damages.
The property is identified as Hotel 2, Kuchiyako-III Layout, Kuje, covered by Right of Occupancy No. KAC/MFCT/LA/MISC-881.
The company named the defendants as “unknown persons,” alleging that unidentified occupiers entered portions of the property without its consent.
K.C. Bencharis says the land was allocated to it by the FCT Minister in May 2000 and that it possesses documentation including an offer of grant, survey records and evidence of regularisation.
The company alleges that it discovered in March 2026 that unknown persons had entered the property, fenced portions and begun developments.
It is asking the court to affirm its ownership and exclusive right to possession, restrain further occupation, and award damages.
The defendants’ position has not yet been determined by the court.
