Armed bandits have reportedly abducted children belonging to the brother-in-law of Gurara TV Chief Executive Officer, Comrade Ernest Thyek Maidawa, in Rimi Village, Kaduna State.
According to SaharaReporters, the attackers invaded the community under the cover of darkness on Sunday night and took the children away before fleeing the area.
Number of Victims Not Disclosed
The report did not disclose the number, names or ages of the abducted children.
It also did not identify the local government area where the affected Rimi Village is located or state whether the abductors had contacted the family with any demands.
Residents appealed to security agencies to intensify surveillance and launch an urgent operation to locate the children and apprehend those responsible.
Gurara TV Appeals for Urgent Rescue
Gurara TV called on security agencies and relevant government authorities to treat the abduction as an emergency and deploy all available resources towards securing the children’s safe release.
The media organisation also urged anyone with credible information about the victims’ location or the identities of their abductors to contact the appropriate security authorities.
It said it was monitoring the situation and would provide further information when verified details became available.
Police Yet to Confirm Incident
SaharaReporters said efforts to obtain a response from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of its report.
Calls and a message reportedly sent to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, had not received a response. Recent official police statements identify Hassan as the command’s Public Relations Officer.
No rescue, arrest or communication from the abductors had been officially announced at the time of publication.
