The Nigerian Bar Association Lawyers with Disabilities Forum (NBA-LWDF), led by Ms. Patience Nkeonyeasua Etumudon, has announced that its 2025 Annual Conference will take place in Asaba, Delta State, from 25–26 November. With the theme “Beyond Triumphs: Advancing Inclusion, Impact & Leadership for Persons with Disabilities,” the conference is expected to be a defining moment for the Nigerian legal community and the broader disability rights movement.

This year’s conference seeks to move the dialogue beyond celebrating past achievements and into a future-focused conversation on implementation, leadership, and sustainable inclusion. Participants will engage with issues such as accessibility in the justice system, enforcement of disability rights legislation, the use of technology to break barriers, and building stronger pathways for leadership within the profession. Interactive workshops, storytelling sessions, mentorship opportunities, and pro bono clinics will complement plenary discussions, ensuring a balance of inspiration and practical outcomes.

The calibre of speakers and participants reflects the importance of the event, with senior advocates, judges, government officials, policy experts, and disability rights leaders all expected to contribute their voices. Their collective insights will address both systemic reforms and the personal journeys that continue to shape the movement for equality.

Asaba was chosen not only for its growing infrastructure and strategic location but also for its symbolic value. Hosting the forum in the city underscores the NBA-LWDF’s commitment to decentralising conversations about inclusion and ensuring that the message resonates across Nigeria. Its relative tranquillity, cultural richness, and accessibility make it an ideal backdrop for a gathering focused on resilience and transformation.

By the close of the two-day event, delegates are expected to leave with more than inspiration—they will carry forward concrete strategies, renewed networks, and actionable steps to strengthen access to justice and advance leadership for persons with disabilities. Asaba, this November, will be where resilience meets vision, charting the path to a more inclusive legal future.
