Mrs. Nella Andem-Ewa, SAN, FCIArb, FNIPR, Principal Partner of Lexglobal Partners LP, will be one of the key speakers at the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference scheduled to hold in Enugu State this August. She will speak on the thought-provoking topic “Breaking the Chains of Exclusion,” bringing her decades of legal expertise and social advocacy to the fore.
Born on September 10, 1960, Nella Andem-Ewa boasts over 38 years of legal practice, establishing an innovative and robust law firm with core strengths in litigation, arbitration, commercial law, and advisory support to multinationals, local enterprises, and government institutions.
Her trailblazing career includes serving as Attorney-General of Cross River State from 1999 to 2003, during which she became the first African woman to address the International Court of Justice as Counsel.
Elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2009, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including as a Life Bencher of the Body of Benchers, Chairperson of the NBA Administration of Criminal Justice Committee, and Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the Electoral College.
Nella has also held positions as a member of the 5th Governing Council of the National Human Rights Commission, the Council of Legal Education, and the Legal Committee of the National Council on Privatization.
She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Energy Institute UK, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
Her influence extends beyond the legal sphere—serving on the Board of Trustees of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), The Leprosy Mission Nigeria, and various private companies.
She is also deeply engaged in advocacy through organizations such as the League of Women Voters of Nigeria and the Efik Association for Women, Youth Development, and the Aged.
Recognized among the 100 Leading Women Leaders in Nigeria (2022 Edition of Gender Perspective), Nella is a respected voice on legal reform, gender equality, climate change, and positive social change.
