The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Makurdi Branch has received commendation from Professor Foluke Dada-Lawanson for its forward-thinking approach in the 2025 Law Week, centered on the theme: “Law Practice in a Volatile Legal Landscape: Evolving Trends and Coping Strategies.”
In a goodwill message to the Branch, Professor Dada-Lawanson described the theme as both timely and compelling, noting that it speaks directly to the complexities and disruptions reshaping the legal profession in Nigeria and around the world.
“We are in an age of rapid change — socially, economically, and technologically — and lawyers must not only respond but lead through innovation and ethical resilience,” she remarked.
Professor Dada-Lawanson, who currently chairs both the Lawyers in Academia Forum and the FIDA Law Week Planning Committee 2025, emphasized that continuous learning and strategic adaptation are critical for legal practitioners seeking relevance and excellence in today’s volatile climate.
She highlighted the importance of the Law Week as a platform for engaging new perspectives, exploring legal technology, strengthening dispute resolution mechanisms, and re-committing to justice and integrity.

“This is a moment to reflect and reposition,” she stated. “I urge participants to fully immerse in the discussions and carry forward the insights gained for lasting impact in their practice and communities.”
Professor Dada-Lawanson extended her best wishes to the Makurdi Branch for a successful and inspiring Law Week, adding that such events are essential to the profession’s evolution.
The 2025 Law Week is expected to convene key voices in the legal field to chart pathways for resilience and progress in the face of ongoing legal and societal transformation.
