Bishop Stabbed to Death

In a heartbreaking incident, Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, the founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, Osun State, was fatally stabbed while attempting to mediate a domestic dispute between a couple in the early hours of Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Sources revealed that the wife, who was also an interpreter at the church, had been living separately from her husband due to their ongoing conflicts, although they were not legally divorced. The bishop, known for his efforts in resolving their frequent disputes, had visited the wife’s residence, where she was reportedly ill.

At some point during the night, the estranged husband arrived at the house and discovered the bishop there.

The situation escalated when the husband, allegedly fueled by suspicions of infidelity, confronted the bishop and accused him of inappropriate behavior. In the heat of the argument, the husband stabbed Bishop Olaribigbe in the chest, leading to his immediate death.

Both the husband and wife were arrested by the Dugbe Police Division in Osogbo and are currently in custody. The bishop’s body has been deposited at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital morgue.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the incident, with the Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, explaining that the couple’s history of disputes and the possibility of the husband believing the bishop had been involved with his wife are central to the investigation. However, further details are still under investigation.
