The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has discovered five illegal crude oil dump sites in the Jahi/Katampe area of Abuja, leading to the arrest of seven suspects involved in illegal crude oil production and distribution. The operation, carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), also led to the recovery of trucks loaded with stolen Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), pumping machines, generators, and other related equipment.
Among the impounded items were a white truck with 45,000 litres of AGO, four short peddler Mercedes-Benz trucks, over 20 surface tanks, and several pumping tools used in the illicit operations. The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on oil theft across the country and confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
