The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested two women over the alleged abduction and trafficking of a four-year-old girl in Kuje Area Council, Abuja.
The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested following credible intelligence while allegedly attempting to escape with the child, identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the arrest followed an alert from a concerned member of the community who reportedly witnessed the incident and immediately notified the police.
Operatives responded to the information, rescued the four-year-old girl and arrested the two suspects.
Preliminary investigations by the Command reportedly revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court in connection with a similar offence.
Police further alleged that following their release, the suspects became involved in the abduction and trafficking of four children to different parts of the country.
Investigators are also examining allegations that two children were taken to an alleged accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified only as “Madam Ijeoma,” who reportedly paid ₦1.5 million for each child.
The rescued four-year-old girl has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. The Command said they would be charged before a court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The FCT Police Command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards, while encouraging members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police station.
The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation and determination by a court of competent jurisdiction.
