As the race for the office of NBA National Welfare Secretary gathers momentum, Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam is making one message unmistakably clear: the welfare of every lawyer must become the heartbeat of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Campaigning on a platform rooted in service, compassion, inclusion, and purposeful advocacy, Audrey says the office of National Welfare Secretary must go beyond emergency interventions to become a powerful voice for the protection, security, and dignity of every legal practitioner.
According to her, the next Welfare Secretary must champion policies that defend lawyers against assault, intimidation, and police brutality, while ensuring that the interests of members are consistently represented wherever critical decisions affecting the profession are made.
“Your welfare should never be an afterthought. It must be front and center,” she declares.
Drawing from her humble beginnings as “that little girl from Nando in Anambra State,” Audrey says she understands the realities, pressures, and sacrifices of legal practice because she shares the same journey with thousands of colleagues across the country.
She believes genuine leadership is measured not by titles but by service.
