The protection and promotion of human rights are central to the legitimacy of democratic governance and the rule of law, as in Nigeria, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has served as the statutory body entrusted with this crucial mandate. As this Commission serves as an extra-judicial mechanism for the respect and enjoyment of human rights, it also provides avenues for public enlightenment and research to raise awareness of human rights issues.
This article highlights the importance of the national human rights commission in protecting victims of corporate and state abuse.
