The Chairman of the Citizens Liberties Committee (National) of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nuhu J. Egya, has extended warm congratulations to the newly called Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, fondly known as the “New Wigs.”
In a statement issued after the Call to the Bar ceremony, Egya described the milestone as a remarkable reward for years of “hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance,” noting that it also marks “a noble beginning into a life of service to humanity through the legal profession.”
“As you don the wig and gown, may you always be guided by the enduring principles of integrity, diligence, and justice,” he urged. “The challenges ahead are many, but so also are the opportunities to make a meaningful impact. Strive always to uphold the dignity of the profession, defend the rights of the vulnerable, and contribute to the advancement of justice and the rule of law in our society.”
Egya’s message was interwoven with inspiring counsel for the young lawyers stepping into the profession:

- “The wig is not just an attire, it is a crown of responsibility.”
- “True advocacy is not only about eloquence, but about empathy, courage, and service.”
- “Let your name become synonymous with integrity, for reputation is the advocate that speaks when you are not in the room.”
The NBA leader concluded with words of hope and pride:
“Once again, accept my warmest felicitations as you begin this exciting journey. The Bar looks to you with pride and expectation.”
