The family of Mr. Uchenna Ogbonna of Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State has demanded justice following his tragic and mysterious death, after he was allegedly burnt to death at his employer’s residence in GRA, Enugu.
Uchenna, who had worked for over seven years as a security guard in the home of his employer, Mr. Uche Adigwe, reportedly made a distress call to his sister shortly before his death, warning that his life was in danger. According to her, he had expressed fears that his employer would not allow him to leave freely, allegedly due to sensitive information he had about the household.
Speaking in a series of voice notes obtained by SaharaReporters, Uchenna’s sister dismissed claims of suicide, stressing that the deceased had already secured a new home and was preparing to move his family out before his sudden death. She also claimed that evidence from the crime scene was tampered with, alleging that a Divisional Police Officer ordered the deletion of video recordings captured at the scene.
The bereaved family, who described Uchenna as their breadwinner, accused the employer of foul play and called on Nigerians and relevant authorities to ensure justice is served.

Community leaders and youths of Nkerefi have also vowed to pursue justice, warning that failure by the Enugu State government and security agencies to investigate transparently could lead to unrest.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, acknowledged receipt of messages on the case but neither confirmed nor denied details as of press time.
