Abuja, June 10, 2025 – The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF), FCT Chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic and untimely passing of Miss Ojochide Okutepa, beloved daughter of renowned legal luminary, J.S. Okutepa, SAN.
In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to the Learned Silk, the Forum, led by Hadiza Afegbua, Esq., FCILG, FIPMA, FAISM, CFE, and Ozoemena Ngozi Roxanna, extended its deepest sympathies to the grieving family and the wider legal community mourning this painful loss.
“With a heavy heart and deep sorrow, we write on behalf of the NBA Women Forum (NBAWF), FCT Chapter, to commiserate with you, your family, and all who are mourning the tragic and untimely passing of your beloved daughter,” the message read.
Acknowledging the agony of a parent losing a child, the Forum noted that not even the strongest or most accomplished are spared from life’s harshest realities.
“Our hearts break with yours, dear Learned Silk, and we share in your grief, knowing how profoundly this loss must weigh on your soul,” the message continued. “To now see you endure this personal heartbreak reminds us that even the strongest amongst us are not spared life’s most bitter trials.”
The Forum paid tribute to Mr. Okutepa’s unwavering devotion to the legal profession, describing him as a steadfast defender of justice and a mentor to generations of Nigerian lawyers.

“Your devotion to the legal profession, your defence of justice, and your unwavering mentorship of countless lawyers across Nigeria have always reflected your strength, principle, and compassion,” the statement noted.
Offering prayers for comfort and healing, the Forum prayed for eternal rest for the late Ojochide Okutepa, and divine grace for the Okutepa family to navigate this period of immense grief.
“May God Almighty, in His infinite mercy, grant your precious daughter eternal rest and surround you and your household with divine comfort… We mourn with you, we stand by you, and we pray for healing, peace, and strength in the days ahead.”
The NBAWF FCT Chapter concluded the message with assurances of solidarity and support during this trying time.
