It has been a distinct honour to join the 2025 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum and to deliver the keynote at the Annual Dinner on a topic so central to our collective progress — “Enhancing Access to Finance, Promoting Entrepreneurship, and Expanding Economic Opportunities for Women in Law and Beyond.”

NBA Rivers State Branches Condemn Query Issued to Port Harcourt Branch Chairman, Demand Immediate Withdrawal

This conference has demonstrated the unshakable truth: that women are not just participants in the legal economy — they are innovators, builders, and bold changemakers. I commend the Chairperson, Huwaila Ibrahim, and the entire NBAWF leadership and planning committee for curating such a forward-thinking and impactful programme.

During my dinner remarks, I shared that as both a lawyer and the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I’ve seen firsthand how critical access to finance, entrepreneurial support, and inclusive economic policies are to unlocking the full potential of women in the legal profession and beyond.

In humour and in truth, we were reminded that real economic transformation requires more than just talk—it requires structural change, creative partnerships, and above all, action. I reiterate my commitment to building collaborative bridges between the private sector and the legal profession, especially through platforms that support female-led enterprises and young women lawyers seeking economic independence.

As we all journey back to our respective states and offices, I pray for a safe return for every delegate and renewed strength to translate the powerful insights of this conference into meaningful, measurable progress. May your experiences here continue to inspire you to dream boldly, speak confidently, and act purposefully.

Once again, thank you for the warm reception, the engaging conversations, and the laughter. It has been a conference to remember.

Farewell — and may the road ahead be lined with opportunity, inclusion, and excellence.

Signed,
Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu, SAN, PhD
