The General Council of the Bar is a body established under the Legal Practitioners Act, responsible for managing the affairs of the NBA and regulating the conduct of legal practitioners in Nigeria.

The council plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and standards of the legal profession.

The representatives were elected alongside the National Executive Committee of the NBA in July 2024. However, at the last National Executive Council meeting of the NBA, approval was given to the President to fill up the vacant NBA positions on the GCB.
